I believe in the power of an image to tell a story. Yes, it sounds obvious, until you think about how powerful that story can be. A kiss on the forehead from daddy to his new daughter. An arm around the shoulder from brother to sister. The joy and love in a family as they sit down to dinner. A photograph can freeze those moments and allow us to relive them all over again. I love taking pictures of people, especially kids. I have been a music teacher for the last 5 years, at both the elementary and secondary levels, so I have a certain measure of insight into kids. The delight and wonder of young children, from toddlers to kindergarteners, makes them wonderfully spontaneous subjects. As they get a little older, they love to accept direction and can even come up with some clever poses on their own. By the time they are teen-agers and seniors in high school, the depth and breadth of their experiences shines through clearly in their portraits, especially as they begin to dream of heading off to college and into their futures. And some of the most enjoyable experiences in photography come from pictures of people doing what they do best - being themselves. For that reason, I prefer to photograph at your home or on-location, rather than in a studio. There's something special about being at home, or at a place that is important to you - and that comes through in your photographs.
